    Description

This is an extremely rare Lorenz Bolz Zirndorf top made in Nuremberg, West Germany in the early 1960’s. The top was made to promote the British television series, “Project Sword”, the show that never was. Gerry Anderson was the creator of the stories featuring “Project Sword”. Century 21 released battery operated toy versions of the space ships and equipment. The LBZ top shows the Thunderbird II, the Moon Prospector and the Scramble bug. Because the television series was never released, these promotional toys are highly collectible.
This particular top is in good working condition. There are some small cracks and scratches on the blue tinted dome. There are some dents to the metal lithographic bottom. The suction cup base, although it has lost its ability to hold the top fast, is in excellent condition compared with many of the tops from this era. Please see the photographs and the video as they are part of the description.
This is a super cool and collectible toy that celebrates early space travel and the genius of Gerry Anderson. The rendering of the lunar surface is fantastic and it is delightful to watch the Thunderbird II skim its surface as you pump the top.
