MOTTAHEDEH Blue & White Bowl w/19th Century WHITE HOUSE Litho for Garfinkel's

Description

This handsome blue and white bowl by Mottahedeh is a square design with indentations at each corner, a reproduction of a late 18th century Chinese export bowl. The distinctive bowl is centered with a sepia-toned early 19th century lithograph of the White House and was made "expressly for Garfinckel's, Washington, D.C." according to the label on the bottom. Made in Portugal, the interesting bowl was likely purchased as a Washington travel souvenir within the past 40 or so years. (Garfinckel's closed for good in 1990.)
The inner rim of the white bowl features an ornate floral design in blue and each of the outside panels features a spray of blue flowers. The bowl measures 8 5/8" across from flat side to flat side; corner to corner, without the indentations, it's about 11" across. The bowl is about 2 7/8" deep. The bowl is in excellent vintage condition, with no signs of use or damage.
