    Description

    This is an old cast iron Japanese lantern with a swooping tiled pagoda roof, hinged latching door, hanging ring at top. There is a sticker on the bottom "Made in Japan."
    The door has an openwork leaf motif and the frieze has winged creatures facing each other.
    The door opens to allow for a candle, to cast interesting shadows through the intricate metalwork.
    Approx. 12" tall with ring down x 10" x 10" overall, weighs approx. 9 pounds without packaging, heavy and substantial.
    Complete and intact. The door is a little warped, making it hard to close and latch. Has oxidation, aging, bumps, handling, patina, dust, wear - see photos for best description.
